Use the book as your guide, the book compositions are more effective than the storyboard sketches, try to bring the book to life instead of totally reapproaching. Also the storyboards should give me an idea of the compositions and how they are animated just by looking at them. So that means a few more compositions in the storyboard to tell a more detailed story. Go with one closest to the book.
